The Fall
A Thematic Collage
This project must be on a poster board
with a minimum size of two feet by two feet.
Place a complete heading on the back of
the board.
The student will create one theme based
on the novel and choose ten excerpts from the novel. Remember, a theme is a statement, not a single word or
phrase. This theme will be prominently
written on the board and the excerpts assembled around it.
Pictures, objects and/or artwork may
adorn the board.
The student may add 3-d objects to
create an effect.
The project will be graded on the
relevance of the excerpts to the theme and the visual presentation.
“A” grades will also present the
collage as a concept that creatively reinforces the theme. For example, if the theme is “Man demands
justice in the universe,” you may use a visual design that presents the ten
excerpts on objects associated with justice: gavels, scales, et cetera. Or, if the theme involves duplicity, one
excerpt may be on the front of a door that opens up to reveal an excerpt
beneath it that contradicts the one on the door. You would then have five such pairs of excerpts. In other words, be creative and logical in
the creation of the visual concept you apply to the poster.
Students may use a computer to generate
text and artwork.
No textual or graphic citations are
necessary.
This project has a value of one hundred
points and is due at the end of our study of the novel.
