A

Meets the criteria for the "B" but also contains a variety of stimulating font styles and well-chosen colors.

Meets the criteria for the "B" and uses engaging and unique graphics that clearly demonstrate research and effort. All elements seamlessly appear and exit.

Meets the criteria for the "B" and contains no indecision or moments of uncertainty. This is a well-rehearsed presentation that meets the 30-40 minute time requirement.

Meets the criteria for the "B" and speakers have a strong presence and energetically address the class.  Speakers utilize all aspects of good public speaking 

Meets the criteria for the "B" and demonstrates thoughtful musical selections that vary according to the presentation’s topics.

B

Slides are easy to read, rarely have mechanical errors, and contain relevant information that accurately describes the book. Sections are clearly identified by introductory slides.

Graphics successfully enhance the information by way of relevant pictures and thematic backgrounds. Nearly all elements are timed to automatically appear.

The presentation moves steadily, with all elements occurring when needed. The presentation begins and ends on time. Occasional pauses exist.

Speakers do not merely read notes or slides..  They speak largely from memory and are comfortable with the material.  No pronunciation problems exist.  Speakers utilize facial expressions and gestures.

Musical volume is consistently acceptable. May establish an atmosphere that enhances the content. Reflects a mature choice of material that is appropriate for the presentation.

C

Slides are better than the "D" due to less frequent errors, although errors do exist.

Graphics are largely successful but some pictures may be hard to see, many elements lack automatic timing or backgrounds may be missing or obscure text.

Minor glitches of a technical or human nature may cause the presentation to stall. The operator infrequently must be cued to move a slide. May not fulfill time requirements.

Speakers lapse into reading too much.  Uncertainty with content or sequence may be present.  Speakers are not particularly engaging or animated and volume may be a problem.

Music exists but may compete with speakers. Volume may be inconsistent, either dominating or disappearing.

D

Slides contain appropriate information, but have frequent defects in readability, accuracy, or mechanics.

Slides have graphics, but defects in pictures, automatic timing  of pictures and text, and backgrounds are frequent.

The presentation may not begin on time. Speakers and slides may not be synchronized. The operator may have to be cued. May not fulfill time requirements.

Speakers are not memorable and basically read the lecture to the class.  Problems with pronunciation are frequent.  The class may become bored with the uninspired speakers.

May not contain music, or music may frequently interfere with the speakers. Content may be inappropriate in language or subject.
